When the desk books fieldwork

Financial auditing follows the fiscal calendar. Use this page to see when March year-ends, December closes, and mid-year covenant procedures compete for partner time.

Dates below describe typical windows for planning conversations, not guaranteed availability. Peak weeks close early; contact us before printing board pack deadlines.

January – February

Planning for March year-ends

Engagement letters, risk workshops, and interim testing for manufacturers closing 31 March. Inventory observation dates for late March are locked in this window.

March – April

Peak statutory fieldwork

Plant counts, confirmation control, and substantive testing. Clearance meetings cluster in mid-to-late April for boards that meet in May.

May – June

Opinion delivery & letters

Final opinions, management letters, and follow-up on remediation owners. Capacity opens for readiness reviews ahead of the next fiscal year.

July – September

Covenant procedures & restatements

Semi-annual lender letters and prior-period correction support. Quieter plant floors make multi-site walkthroughs easier.

October – November

December year-end planning

Trading houses and subsidiaries on calendar-year closes begin scoping. First-year auditees should start readiness work here, not in December.

December

Calendar-year fieldwork

Shorter fieldwork blocks around holidays. Cut-off testing for shipments through 31 December requires early document freezes.

How to hold a place

Send your year-end month, number of inventory sites, and preferred board pack date. We reply with open weeks or an honest waitlist note. Holding a week is not a signed engagement; the letter follows after scoping.
